Region 1 Solo and Ensemble Contest Results

On February 8, 2014 36 students from the Tulia HS Fightin' Hornet Band competed at the Region 1 UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest at West Texas A&M University. The students can earn a rating of a 1 (best) down to a 5 (worst). (Click on the link to see the results)

Our 5th Grade is Out of this WORLD!

For the past few weeks, students in 5th Grade at Swinburn Elementary have been working very hard learning about space, our Earth and our Moon. As part of this, they constructed a project to show the phases of the moon, demonstrating our lunar cycle. They all worked VERY hard on their projects, and the projects were AMAZING! All 5th grade students showed creativity and an eagerness to learn through these projects. They all deserve recognition for their hard work, but here are a few examples of the outstanding work some students did.

Volcanoes at Swinburn

Swinburn Elementary students in 3rd grade science class made model volcanoes in class. Then as a class they took them outside and made the model volcanoes erupt. The students and teachers enjoyed the eruptions. Learning and teaching with these models provide an excellent conclusion to this science unit. (To see pictures click on the story)

2014 Tulia ISD Hall of Fame Nominations

Tulia ISD announces acceptance of nomination for the Hall of Fame Class of 2014. The Hall of Fame recognizes alumni, faculty, and staff who have demonstrated notable accomplishments or provided significant contributions to their school, community, or society.

The 2014 Tulia ISD Hall of Fame will be inducted April 28, 2014 at Tulia High School. Deadline for nomination is March 7, 2014. Please click the link for press release, instruction form, and nomination form.

Swinburn Elementary UIL Results

Swinburn Elementary students attended the district UIL meet on Friday November 15, 2013 in Olton. The students above worked very hard, put in many hours of practice, and placed at the competition. They will be presented awards at the end of the school awards ceremony. All other students who participated will also be recognized at the end of the year ceremony for working hard. Bryce Shelton makes ALL-STATE BAND!!!!

Bryce Shelton has been named to the ATSSB 1A/2A All-State Band! Earning a spot in the All-State Band is the highest honor that a Texas musician can earn. Bryce placed first chair in the Area auditions this past Saturday in Idalou. - Click the headline for the full story!
